Masterson Method Seminar-Workshop Logistical Information:
Seminar schedule for each day is 9am – 5pm. Please plan on arriving 15 minutes before the course begins.
You will be working with horses, in stalls, on mats and concrete. Use appropriate caution at all times.
Wear appropriate footwear and attire. Boots, leather, barn shoes, etc. Please do not wear sandals, flip flops, or open-toed shoes. Wear comfortable loose clothing, jeans and appropriate shirt, no scarves, no excessive jewelry, no perfume and no artificial fingernails. You will be working in a stall with horses and will be bending and moving around so attire must be suitable for the work.
Remember to drink water and keep hydrated throughout the day. Please remember to be a good visitor and keep track of empty bottles and wrappers and dispose of them appropriately.
We will provide each student a workbook describing each technique that is taught during the seminar. Each student will need to bring their own pen/pencils. We encourage students to bring a notebook if they would like to take extra notes. We would ask that all students keep track of their materials and not leave anything behind in the stalls or barn. Only clipboards, pens and notebooks are allowed inside the stalls. Please leave other bags and objects outside and in a place that will not obstruct the barn aisle.
Work only on horses that are approved. The Instructor will tell you which horses are available to practice on. There are a lot of horses and only those assigned should be used.
Think about where you are “physically” in the stall when working. Make sure the horse has room to move away…on a path that does not involve plowing over YOU. The instructor will cover this again in the seminar. Don’t get the horse up against the wall when practicing moves, there should be space on both sides. If the instructor feels you are not properly handling a horse and they assess the situation as potentially dangerous they may request you step out of the stall and audit only.
The Instructor and assistants will do their best to move from group to group during practice sessions. Their goal is to give everyone one-on-one instruction. Please be patient when the instructor needs to move to another group.
We ask students to not video tape during the course. Still photography is allowed, but please be courteous to other students when taking pictures.
