Description

This is an online, interactive Zoom course with live instruction.  The course starts with teaching how to palpate the dog. Then the course presents different scenarios that the canine bodyworker may encounter:

  • The scenario will illustrate a canine, its owner and lifestyle, together with any recent or past traumas / conditions.
  • The sessions will help to tune the brain, much like doing detective work, to pick out the key case history points and gaps in the case history that the student thinks would help in a real-life occasion.
  • Using canine breed, condition, trauma and activities charts, the student will draw on any previous experiences and refer to anatomy to determine where there may be key areas of tension and where that tension could radiate out to as a pattern(s) of compensation.
  • In real life the student would also use their static and gait assessment and palpation skills to help with detective work.
  • The student will have a specific chart with each scenario to complete their detective work prior to meeting as a group to discuss.  In class, the group will build a complete story of the scenario together in the classroom.
  • Students will receive instructional review of SRSR and Movement techniques.

Students must have a dog for the first class when learning how to palpate a dog.  Dogs will not be used for the Case Scenarios.
