I have been seeking medical & veterinary care opportunities since I started “doctoring” my kittens as a 5 year old. I wanted to be a doctor, then a nurse after high school & spent my college career studying Biology, Anatomy & Physiology, while working 800 hours as a student nurse directly with patients. My equine experience has included the personal study of equine health, UC Davis study courses, hands-on injury care & treatment, breeding & mare care, critical care of foals, and handling newborns, nursing mares, and stallions, I have owned my own horses since 2000, to include a Paint with HYPP, and two purebred Arabians. My discipline is technical trail, having ridden from the beach to the top of the Sierra, horse camping and leading trail rides.
In 2005 I started providing a Fecal Egg Count service for local horse owners, checking for the 2 major parasites along with sand checks. This service is still going today & I am still known around the East Bay as THE POOP LADY! I have worked with multiple farriers in the area and have personally done a lot of study to understand the proper balance and corrections necessary for a balanced and healthy foot. The adage “NO Foot-NO Horse” is as true today as ever! I also incorporate saddle fit into my work, as it is critical to performance.
Once I attended the Masterson Method® 2-day Weekend Course, I immediately knew this was the path I needed to follow for the rest of my working life. Every day is a blessing for me providing a path for these wonderful horses to find relief, relaxation, and release of tension. Becoming an MMCP has proven to me over and over these animals hold enormous tension, silently suffering, that can literally change their personalities, physical abilities, and performance. One of my first clients – an endurance rider who has done Tevis several times – called me after their first ride post session to say “Masterson has given me my horse back”! It does not get any better than that!
