Pamela is a Masterson Method Certified Practitioner and Equine Specialist with a lifelong love of horses and a deep appreciation for the connection between horses and people.
For the past 20 years, Pamela has volunteered at Winslow Therapeutic Riding Center, where she was introduced to The Masterson Method®. Her experience at Winslow opened the door to a new way of understanding horses-through quiet observation, gentle touch, and, most importantly, learning to truly listen to what each horse is communicating.
One of Pamela’s most important teachers has been Lila, a very special curly-coated pony who lived at Winslow. Pamela’s journey with Lila began unexpectedly while she was working with another horse, Peach. Lila was loose in the arena free to move wherever she wanted. As Pamela worked with Peach, Lila began to release by yawning. Then in a moment Pamela will never forget, Peach and Lila both rolled at exactly the same time -Peach on the lead line and Lila completely free to choose.
Their sessions together afterward became incredibly meaningful. As Lila came to understand that Pamela was listening to her, she began offering more and more releases. Sometimes Lila would even lie down for a nap during a session or shortly afterward.
Lila taught Pamela one of the most important lessons she carries into her work today: When a horse realizes that you are truly listening, they can begin to feel safe enough to let go.
Pamela approaches each horse with patience, kindness, curiosity, and respect allowing the horse to participate in the process and work at their own pace. She provides Masterson Method bodywork to help horses release tension, move more freely, feel more comfortable in their own bodies and most importantly, feel heard. Her goal is to support a deeper connection between horse and human.
Outside of her work with horses, Pamela treasures time with her husband, Kevin, her family and new, Silver Lab puppy, Maggie Grace. Horses have been a constant source of joy, inspiration, and learning in her life. She feels grateful to have found a way to turn that lifelong passion into meaningful work, helping horses feel more comfortable, understood, and connected.
Pamela is based in Chester NY, and serves horses and their people throughout the Hudson Valley and surrounding areas, generally traveling within an hour of Chester, with longer-distance appointments available by arrangement.
For Pamela this work is more than a certification-it is a continuation of a lifelong love for horses and a way of giving something back to the animals who have given her so much.
