I’m originally from Germany, where I began horsemanship lessons at nine. Unlike most barns, our horses lived in a large herd on pasture, and I loved spending hours watching them interact. Looking back, those early years of learning herd dynamics, body language, and natural movement gave me a foundation I still draw on today.
When life later brought me to California, I exercised horses at a therapeutic riding barn and formed a deep bond with a mare who carried lower back tension. Looking for ways to support her, I discovered the Masterson Method®. After reading Beyond Horse Massage I attended a local demo, and knew: this was the path for me. I didn’t just sign up for the next possible weekend workshop all the way in Arizona, I decided that evening to go all in and become certified.
Since then, I’ve had the privilege of working with a wide range of equines – from competitive athletes, to rescue cases and steady schoolmasters. But there is one group of equines that holds a particularly special place in my heart: donkeys. Living near a BLM adoption site, I’ve worked closely with trainers preparing burros (wild donkeys) for life with humans. Working with burros has sharpened my awareness of the smallest shifts in body language and reshaped how I approach liberty work even more than horses.
I’m so excited to bring the skills and experiences they’ve given me to support the horses and long-ears in your life!
Giving back to them is, and always will be, the most fulfilling part of this work.
