Kathy started her love of horses as a child – anything horse related even though she didn’t get her first horse until she was 19.
She worked a full summer in Wyoming teaching riding lessons and leading pack trips for young girls, followed by a career in veterinary medicine as a licensed technician. Eventually she became a college instructor, helping train up the next generation of vet technicians.
During this time she became involved in Competitive trail riding, logging 5000+ miles in competition over a decade or so. Then she moved into endurance riding, where she just recently surpassed her 10,000 mile mark.
The Masterson Method® came into her life when she had a horse with chronic soreness and pain in his thoracic sling. Chiropractic and veterinary intervention helped, but didn’t seem to give him quite enough relief to be fully comfortable in his job. On a whim, she ordered Jim Masterson’s book ‘Beyond Horse Massage’ and was immediately hooked!
Still actively competing as an endurance rider, Kathy uses The Masterson Method to promote soundness, relaxation and comfort in her own and others’ trail and endurance mounts, as well as performance horses over a variety of disciplines.
She is based in Morriston, Florida (greater Ocala area) from November through April, and in Ivanhoe, VA (Galax/Wytheville area) from May through October.
