Karen’s love for horses started at a very young age, when she competed in the hunter circuit. When she bought her young daughter a Shetland pony, they both became immersed in Canadian Pony Club together. Karen became a pony club testing representative for 4 years, and a horsemaster, where she participated in dressage, stadium jumping and cross country. At the same time, she owned an American quarter horse named Peppy, that she competed on in team penning, and sorting for quite a few years. Her philosophy for owning well rounded horses is to keep introducing new disciplines even if it is a fun day of polocrosse with her Andalusian, Smeagol (The Ring is Mine) and her daughter’s appendix mare Kandi (Skip En Kandi). Karen and her adult children love to take the horses to the mountains for an annual camping trip in the summers. Karen worked in a small animal veterinarian clinic for over 3 years, and then transferred to a large mixed animal practice for over a year and a half.

When she was introduced to the Masterson Method®, it was recommended to her by her veterinarian. Karen’s Beyond Horse Massage Weekend Course brought her to tears, realizing this was her calling – the difference she could make by listening to what the horse had to say with the most subtle touch. Passion barely describes the feeling she has when working with the horses. Karen chose to complete the Masterson Method Bodywork and become a Certified Practitioner within a year’s time, including all of her fieldwork studies.

Karen has been fortunate to have a great group of horse peers who have always seen her put the horse first. Horsemanship has always been foremost in all of her experiences with horses. She has an acreage north of Edmonton, Alberta with an equine rehab business (referrals from surrounding veterinarians) and offers short term boarding. Her business, Agile Equestrian Ltd., has grown with the introduction of the Masterson Method Bodywork.

Karen’s Masterson Method clientele have all become repeat customers, with their horses showing improvement in more mobility, better range of motion and less restriction and tension overall. Please contact Karen for a session with your horse.

FUN FACT: Karen loves to trim feet! (Her own horses) She became a “stockist” for Scootboots as she found they complimented the horse’s body with the Masterson Method Bodywork. No foot no horse.
