I was fortunate to grow up next to a stable. I started riding horses at the age of 10. I spent my entire adolescence at that stable, helping with everything—cleaning stalls, grooming horses, helping prepare feed, taking care of minor injuries, and more. Later, during my studies, I taught riding lessons at a few summer camps.
After completing my bachelor’s degree in biology, my desire to learn more about horses led me to pursue a master’s degree in veterinary biomedical sciences focused on equine wound healing. I then worked for several years in a research laboratory studying respiratory diseases in horses. Although those years were rich in learning, they also took me away from riding.
More than 10 years passed before I returned to the stable of my childhood. A retired horse from the riding school, My Kim, needed light exercise. It was while looking for ways to keep this retiree fit that I discovered The Masterson Method®. A friend from the stable lent me the book Beyond Horse Massage. My Kim was the perfect partner for learning this method—he allowed me to practice all the techniques and see how they affected his movement. He was with me throughout the entire certification process, and today he benefits from it to the fullest!
I have always loved being in the company of horses, simply being by their side. The Masterson Method gives me that closeness while also creating a unique form of communication between them and me. It brings me great joy to help horses stay fit so they can continue sharing wonderful moments with their owners for many years. Whether they are competition horses, companion horses, or older horses, they all deserve to feel good in their bodies.
