Hi, I’m Janet and I live in High River, AB which is home to the TV series Heartland! I received my human massage certification 25 years ago and developed an intuitive sense of the right pressure and to read clients’ tight muscles. I did not grow up with horses but always found a way to be around them, like the one summer when I got my groom’s card for the thoroughbred racing season in Calgary. Fast forward to 2012 when I saw Cowboy Mounted Shooting and decided what the heck, “Let’s buy a horse and some guns!”. One of my horses was a troubled soul and the “teacher horse”. He is the reason why I searched out ways to connect with him. I started playing around with The Masterson Method® from the free videos available online and this allowed me to gain his trust and a deeper communication with him.
I have volunteered with a therapeutic riding program since 2015 and so I had some opportunity to try MM on other horses and I saw how effective it was. I searched out where it was being taught and began my journey. While going through the Masterson program I assisted at many clinics in Calgary and Kelowna. It was here that I discovered how much I enjoy showing horse owners what The Masterson Method® has to offer. I became an MMCP in the fall of 2023.
In order to build my clientele, I started offering 3-hour hands-on interactive demos to folks in my area. I was thrilled with how well it was received and it encouraged me to become an instructor of the Light To The Core course in 2024. I taught 21 demos with 163 students and 2 LTC courses with 16 students in Alberta and Saskatchewan. In 2025, I will be teaching in northern BC as well as Alberta.
I LOVE that I work WITH the horse and not just ON the horse and I look forward to sharing this amazing method for many years to come!
