Horses have always been part of my life – from starting to learn to ride at 7, then helping out at a local riding school through my teenage years. I was lucky enough to have my own pony through these years & just loved being around them in every spare minute – that hasn’t changed – my happy place is always with my horses.
Moving through the years I worked as a groom then pony trek guide whilst gaining my BHS stages 1, 2 & 3. By then I wanted to have a ‘regular’ job which would give me time to enjoy my horses at home. I studied & qualified as an occupational therapist in 1998, which I continue now on a part time basis.
I found natural horsemanship in 2006 which opened my eyes to a different way of being with horses & completely changed my interaction with them, looking at reading behavior & working with the horse rather than use of dominance.
I found Masterson when attending a Kelly Marks horse psychology course & it seemed intriguing but then went on the back burner for a while. A few years later a friend’s farrier was dropping leaflets off about a local girl who is a Masterson Method practitioner so I thought I’d give it a go with my ex-racer. The positive effects were so profound I was hooked! I attended a Weekend Course then immediately signed up for the Advanced 5-Day Course. From there I went on to complete the Certification course – which was an incredible & positive (if sometimes steep!) learning curve.
Being part of the horse’s process to recognize then enable them to release the tension is still incredible to me & I feel honored to be able to help them. Seeing & feeling the responses fills me with joy & humility that such proud and beautiful animals feel able to connect and relax with me.
I am fully insured and am based in Wrexham, North Wales, covering North Wales, Chester, the Wirral, Liverpool & North Shropshire. I look forward to meeting and working with your horses.
