Catherine’s Masterson journey began with her heart-horse Angel. About 10 years ago, the barn manager brought her to see one of Jim Masterson’s demonstrations at the Midwest Horse Fair. Being a lifelong animal lover and caregiver, she instantly related to Jim’s way of listening to the horse. When practicing the techniques herself, she was continually amazed at the consistent, positive results spanning a wide variety of horses. Because of this, she decided to become certified as a practitioner and start Balanced Equine Bodywork LLC.
The Masterson philosophy of working with the horse has come naturally to her and seeing the positive changes created through this work continues to inspire her. Seeing the joy in riders’ faces as they share the improvements they see and feel with their horse is always a special moment. Smoother rides, increased range of motion, ease of performing athletic skills, and having a calmer demeanor are often mentioned.
Catherine enjoys working with all breeds and disciplines. She feels it is important to work along side the horse’s team of professionals. Keeping the lines of communication open with owners, veterinarians, farriers, trainers and other team members helps the horse be at their best. She considers her education a lifelong journey, continually adding skills that build on Masterson techniques. She assists teaching Masterson Method® courses, participates in hands-on equine dissections, takes classes in anatomy, myofascial release, craniosacral, trigger points, biomechanics and more.
Exploring the many gentle ways to help horses and riders enjoy their time together has felt like a gift and she is grateful to be a part of all of their journeys.
Catherine lives in the Milwaukee area and travels throughout Southeastern Wisconsin and Northeastern Illinois. She is also able to travel further with proper arrangements.
