My name is Catherine Fellows and my story is familiar. Horses have drawn me to them as long as I can remember. This connection has led me many places starting with the best mentor, coach, friend of whom the world has never heard. Every time I am in a situation involving horses I see and benefit from the lessons she taught. I also have the ongoing support of my family and friends who all accept that I am very likely to leave horse hair behind or track in manure or smell like a barn. All are elements of the most authentic me.
My experience ranges across the world of horses: 4-H and Pony Club, summer camp, trail riding, Equitation, Hunter/Jumper, Dressage, Equine Assisted Services (EAS) especially Hippo-therapy, Equine Assisted Mental Health, Therapeutic Riding, Therapeutic Driving and, my personal favorite, Horse Trials and Three Day Eventing.
In addition to being a Masterson Method Certified Practitioner (MMCP), I am a Masterson Method Equine Specialist (MMES), a PATH, Intl. (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship) Advanced Instructor, and a PATH, Intl. Equine Specialist. I have a BS Degree in Physical Education from Springfield College in Springfield, MA. My day jobs have included retail sales and customer service, Computer Software Instructor, Classroom Teacher, Equine Manager and Therapeutic Riding Instructor. Discovering the Masterson Method® and becoming a Masterson Method Certified Practitioner has opened a door to giving back to horses for all the gifts they have given to me.
I live in the Central Leatherstocking Region of New York State about an hour west of Albany and often travel 2-3 hours to share the Masterson Method® with extraordinary horses and humans. As a point of reference, Central New York is home to Cooperstown with the Baseball Hall of Fame, the Fennimore Art Museum and the Farmer’s Museum of New York. It also has great scenery, lots of history, recreation and places to explore. It has relatively easy access to New York City by train or car providing a striking contrast of worlds.
I am always interested in adding to my Masterson Method skills and equine experience in general. I assist at Masterson Method® seminars whenever possible and keep in touch with my instructors and mentors. I took the Light to the Core Seminar in 2023 and will assist in 2024. I completed the Masterson Method Equine Specialist Seminar in 2019 and completed the Equine Specialist Fieldwork in 2020. In addition to providing equine bodywork as a Masterson Method Certified Practitioner, I volunteer both MMCP and MMES services to local therapeutic programs and rescues. I present demonstrations in private and public venues. To learn more about the Masterson Method® in Central New York I hope you will contact me.
