I was a horse-crazy kid, longing for the connection with a horse that I’d read about in books. My mare and I had our moments, but they were nothing like what I saw Jim Masterson achieve. I wanted that connection with a horse and I wanted to share it with others, so I jumped at the chance to be certified as an Equine Specialist. Soon after, I added The Masterson Method Bladder Meridian Technique to the therapeutic facilitation curriculum I was developing for Connected Horse, an equine-guided program for persons with dementia and their care partners. It has been a joy to see what giving back to the horses does for Connected Horse participants. It is remarkable to see how speaking the horse’s language helps humans to connect with each other. I look forward to bringing that connection to more horses and humans.
