Laurie DeLalla owns and operates BnL Ranch in Aptos, California, where she introduces people to horses through mindful, non-riding equine interactions. At BnL Ranch, participants are encouraged to slow down, focus on the present moment, and develop mindful awareness by observing horses’ subtle body language and their own physical sensations. This approach fosters personal growth, healing, and joy for students of all ages and abilities.
Laurie DeLalla’s lifelong passion for horses began in childhood. As a young gymnast, she discovered vaulting—a sport that deepened her understanding of the biomechanics of both horse and rider. Her early experiences caring for and exercising vaulting horses laid a strong foundation for her equine journey.
Guided by a career counselor, Laurie DeLalla pursued equine studies at The University of Findlay, earning a BS in Equine Science. She then entered the high-end sport horse world, working with a former Olympic rider and a top equitation trainer. This experience taught her the importance of fitness and attention to detail for maintaining horses at the FEI competition level, and exposed her to various equine bodywork modalities, including The Masterson Method®.
Throughout her career, Laurie DeLalla has worn many hats in the horse industry. Her current passion is connecting and listening to horses, aiming for liberty and bridleless work. Becoming a Masterson Method Certified Practitioner (MMCP) has expanded her understanding of how both horses and humans process and learn, emphasizing the importance of softening and attunement in equine interactions.
