A woman smiling with her horse.

Alyssa has had a passion for horses from a very young age. She enjoyed trail riding as a child and helping her uncle bring horses back to work after time off as a young adult. As most people can understand, life happens and she became busy with work and being the mother of two amazing daughters, but her love of horses never left her.

In 2016 she became acquainted with a trainer who owned and boarded horses and gave riding lessons. She started filling in with chores and also started lessons. Since then, she has continued riding and being involved with multiple barns with duties ranging from barn chores to management of boarding facilities and teaching at a lesson program. At one barn she was visiting, she met a Masterson Method Certified Practitioner (MMCP) and became very curious about this method of equine bodywork. Her focus started to shift from being a caregiver to really studying the language of horses and how they communicate with humans. She was able to take the Masterson Method Equine Specialist Course specifically for equine-assisted services programs, and immediately decided to become certified as an MMES.

Alyssa has spent the last year working with rescues and has used her knowledge of the Masterson Method to help bring traumatized horses back to a state of mind where they can begin to learn how to trust humans again. She has also worked with after school programs teaching middle school kids how Masterson can help them learn to calm their mind and body and focus to create a conversation with the horse that helps to start a healing process for both horse and human.

Currently, Alyssa is completing her fieldwork to become a Masterson Method Certified Practitioner (in addition to her MMES certification) while continuing her work with rescues in her area.
