Join thousands who have learned this method

Whether it’s a relaxed trail ride or a full day in the arena, riding takes a toll on your horse’s muscles, joints, and mind. Over time, that can limit how freely they move.

The Masterson Method® gives you a gentle, hands-on approach to help your horse release built-up tension.

When your horse moves without restriction, they’re happier, more comfortable, and more willing to partner with you. Stiffness, trouble with leads, uneven backing, or head shyness are often not “behavioral issues” at all but signs of physical tension you can help them let go of.

By learning to recognize and release tension, you restore comfort, improve performance, and deepen your connection.

A Different Way of Working With Your Horse

I’ve spent years working with horses at every level from top international competitors as well as thousands of pleasure and trail horses. The most important thing I’ve learned is this: when we pay attention to their smallest responses, the horse tells us everything we need to know.

The Masterson Method® is a gentle, interactive way of working with your horse that follows their lead. Sometimes that means using quiet, relaxed touch, and sometimes it means relaxed movement to help them let go of tension and restore range of motion.

Either way, it’s always guided by the horse never forced.

What Happens When You Release Tension

  • You’ll see them step out more freely, turn more easily, and meet you at the gate ready for the next ride.
  • They become softer, calmer, and more willing.
  • The connection between you grows because you’re listening in a way they understand.

And the best part? You don’t need any special skills or equipment just your hands, your feel, and the willingness to let your horse guide you.

Why It Works

“It works because you’re following feedback from the horse. By paying attention to subtle responses from the horse and asking for movement in a relaxed state, the horse’s nervous system is able to release tension. Your horse guides the process. It’s something you do with your horse, not to your horse.”

See it for Yourself

I’ve put together a short video lesson showing the Bladder Meridian Technique one of the simplest ways to help your horse release tension through gentle touch and relaxed movement.

You’ll see the signs your horse gives when they start to let go and once you notice them, you’ll start seeing them all the time.

Why I Want You to Have This

This isn’t about “fixing” your horse. It’s about helping them feel their best so you both can enjoy your time together even more.

When I share this technique at events, riders are always surprised at how much tension their horse is holding in their bodies and how much they can help them release in just a few minutes of light touch or relaxed movement.

I want you to experience that too.

Gentle Work, Big Changes

“The magic is in letting the horse guide the process. They’ll tell you what they need — all you have to do is listen.”
