Block 3 Focus: The focus will be on taking the data you’ve gathered in the Initial Evaluation (reaction); your work on the horse (restriction); history of the horse (age, job, physical and performance issues); feedback from the horse and owner on changes that occurred since the first session, and looking at it from the point of view of determining what might be creating the tension in the body. We are looking for correlations that will help you put together a picture of what’s going on overall with the horse – the Final Evaluation. For more about the focus of this block, please review your Fieldwork Student Manual.
Students must incorporate mentor feedback from the first session of a case study in the second session (i.e., if your mentor has suggested improvements in a technique or asked why you didn’t do a specific technique in the first session, you need to show that you did the technique differently or used the technique in the second session). If you don’t incorporate your mentor’s suggestions in the follow-up session, the session will not be accepted as part of the case study and you will have to do it over.
After completing your 10 cases studies (2 sessions per horse), please work with Emma to find a Coach. Refer to the Fieldwork Student Manual or the links in this website for information on setting up a coaching session.
