After a long hiatus between childhood and adult riding, Kathy got reacquainted with horses during a trip to Iceland. The purpose of the trip was to explore her Icelandic heritage but the introduction to this hardy, smooth-gaited and personable breed was an unexpected bonus! A few years later, her Icelandic mare Blida found her new home in Canada. Saddle-fitting challenges and a diagnosis of PSSM (Polysaccharide Storage Myopathy – an equine muscle disorder) led Kathy to investigate various kinds of bodywork to help improve Blida’s chances of a longer riding life

As a practitioner, Kathy has worked with horses from a variety of disciplines including barrel racing, dressage and harness racing, as well as pleasure and retired horses of several different breeds. Whatever the background, the Masterson Method, with its “less is more” approach and emphasis on reading subtle signs from the horse, can have a positive impact on your horse’s performance and well-being.

Kathy’s Equine Science Certificate from the University of Guelph, along with courses in TTouch and Equi-Bow, complement her Masterson Method training.
