Petra was born and raised in Sweden and her passion for horses began long before her school years. As a young child, she thrived on working with difficult horses and she 'broke' her first horse at the age of 10. Petra was an active member and President of her home town's 4H club and enjoyed weekly riding lessons. At the age of 14, Petra took a break from working with horses as she developed a new passion for golf. Golf brought her to the United States when she received a golf scholarship to two different universities in Louisiana and Alabama.
After she graduated her Master's degree in Business Administration, she was re-introduced to the world of horses when she offered a two year old Anglo-Arab gelding. It was this horse, who would eight years later bring her to the Masterson Method when he developed an undiagnosed muscle condition.
With a desire of continuing education, Petra spent the next eight years studying various equestrian disciplines and training methods. She enjoys methods that focus on training the horse naturally and has developed a cross training system with emphasis on Natural horsemanship (Julie Goodnight and others), Classical dressage, Straightness training (Marijke de Jong) and Equine bodywork (Jim Masterson).
Petra believes that Equine bodywork is critical to the general health of the horse but also as a way to optimize performance. Petra's lifelong passion for horses brought her to Masterson Method Equine bodywork and she loves how it perfectly complements her training methods.
Petra currently lives with her husband in Murfreesboro, Tennessee and works as a Program Manager for a financial institution while she enjoys daily interactions with horses; either through training or Masterson Method bodywork.
