(North East, MD) Maureen grew up in Baldwin, Maryland, a rural area north of Baltimore. She begin riding at age 8 and had her own pony, an Arabian/Welsh cross, by age 11. She competed in 4-H and local hunter competitions with her pony and then her Quarter Horse/Thoroughbred (QH/TB) until her late teens. She attended the College of Notre Dame of Maryland (now Notre Dame of Maryland University) in Baltimore and maintained ownership of her horse and continued to ride throughout college and while working to establish a career. In 2004, Maureen bought a young Arabian/Selle Franais gelding to replace her retired QH/TB. Seven month later, she also acquired his full sister, whose residual physical issues from an accident with a barbed wire fence as a young horse prompted her to explore bodywork, eventually leading her to the Masterson Method in late 2012. She honed her skills by working on her own and friends' horses on evenings and weekends, achieving final certification in June 2016.
Maureen lives in North East, MD, in Cecil County and works full-time for the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts in Washington, DC, as a Facilities Program Manager. She works part-time on primarily eventers and dressage horses in Cecil County and Harford County, MD, and Chester County, PA. In her spare time, she enjoys trail riding in the nearby Fair Hill Natural Resources Management Area and expanding her bodywork skills and knowledge of traditional and alternative therapies for horses. Maureen has a particular and personal interest in Lyme Disease in horses. Current members of her herd include her Arabian/Selle Franais mare, a retired off-the-track Thoroughbred gelding, a retired Dutch Warmblood gelding, and a Hackney pony gelding.
Maureen welcomes inquiries and may be contacted via phone or text at (410) 852-4250 or email at redmaremassage@gmail.com.
