Cathy Koetsier<\/p><\/div>\n

Block 1 Focus:<\/strong> The focus of your Case Studies will be on practicing all the techniques as you learned them in the Advanced 5-Day Course, performing them properly and becoming proficient in the practice of those techniques. In each write-up, you must articulate clearly each technique, creating a picture for the mentor, so as to ensure that you understand the basic order of techniques, evaluations and proficiency in the practice. Be as specific as you can as to what exactly you did and how the horse responded.\u00a0For more about the focus of this block, please review your Fieldwork Student Manual.<\/p>\n

Students must incorporate mentor feedback from the first session of a case study in the second session (i.e., if your mentor has suggested improvements in a technique or asked why you didn\u2019t do a specific technique in the first session, you need to show that you did the technique differently or used the technique in the second session). If you don\u2019t incorporate your mentor\u2019s suggestions in the follow-up session, the session will not be accepted as part of the case study and you will have to do it over.<\/p>\n

After completing your 10 case studies (2 sessions per horse), please work with Cathy to find a Coach. Refer to the Fieldwork Student Manual or the links in this website for information on setting up a coaching session.<\/p>\n

How to name your case studies<\/div>
For tracking purposes, please save your case study and evaluation using the correct naming convention: DO NOT include spaces or special characters when naming your case studies and evaluations. Special characters are characters that are not letters or numbers, for example #, @, ( ), etc.<\/p>\n

Please use this format when naming your case studies and evaluations:<\/p>\n

Student’s last name (example: Williams)
\nHorse name (example: Roadie)
\nCase study # (example: 1)
\nSession # (example: 1)<\/p>\n

First case study, part 1: “lastname-horsename1.1.doc” and \u201cname-horsename1.1eval.pdf\u201d
\nFirst case study, part 2: “lastname-horsename1.2.doc” and \u201cname-horsename1.2eval.pdf\u201d<\/p>\n

Please try to save your case study in a word document. This makes it easier for Mentors to give feedback directly on your case study. Your evaluation can be uploaded as a pdf or jpg.<\/div><\/div>\n
