Weekend Seminar-Workshop StudentsThank you, Jim, for such a wonderful experience at the seminar this past weekend at Stanford. Even though I got frustrated with myself many times in trying to apply what I understood from watching your demonstration, I learned so much more than what I saw on the DVD.
The DVD is absolutely wonderful, but one cannot really "get it" until one gets hands-on instruction. I am so eager to learn more...and to record your one-liners. ha ha

Thank you again... I love this kind of work...it's the most exciting, soulful, gentle massage work I have ever come across. Exceedingly grateful, Sharon
Weekend Seminar-Workshop StudentsI've become very enthusiastic following the weekend seminar in Belgium. Linda, thank you for being a host, it was a success.
Next year I'll do the 5-day course to help a lot of Dutch horses with the Masterson Method. It's a great pleasure to see the horse relax.
Jim and Tamara, thank you for the great weekend. I learned a lot.
Monique
Weekend Seminar-Workshop StudentsI'm 14 years old and took Jim's class. It is just so easy to understand and I would take the same class over again because you learn so much, as it's almost too much to grasp in a weekend. Jim and his assistants are the best thanks! Jake Davis
Weekend Seminar-Workshop StudentsThis guy is GOOD!!! I spent the weekend with him and learned so much!! He does simple things to release huge amounts of stress. Horses love him. It the same sort of thing I get from my great manual therapists, not massage as in rubbing on muscles.
He is funny and not ego based, and is easy to learn from. I am going to get certified in his Method. I highly recommend a weekend with him....you will get some tools that are powerful. You would get gobs of info from just the 2 days. I personally am going to do the full program, but I don't have a bodywork practice to add this to. Jim's method will form the basis of my hands-on practice. My goal is to to do a combo of hands on and shamanism for horses here in AZ a day or two a week. I have been browsing teachers and programs, mostly with disappointment. But this guy is GOOD!
Weekend Seminar-Workshop StudentsJim has developed the most complete equine massage therapy program in existence. His years of experience in working with horses and industry professionals led him to the simple premise of incorporating the horse into the treatment process by reading and interpreting responses. The results are amazing and quite rewarding. I was fortunate to be able to attend one of his Iowa Seminar-Workshops and recommend it highly. Jim Masterson truly cares about helping horse owners and equine therapists improve the quality of life for their animals.
Weekend Seminar-Workshop StudentsJim has developed a system of Equine Bodywork that is unique and results based, more effective than any other combination of techniques I've seen. In addition to being a master bodyworker he has the ability to teach these methods in a very clear, concise and easily understood hands-on manner. I highly recommend his courses to anyone interested in either being a professional equine bodyworker, or simply to deepen the communication between your own horse and you!
Weekend Seminar-Workshop StudentsI just wanted to say how much I enjoyed and learned from our course last week in Devon. You really demonstrated and explained things so that it was simple to follow and apply and the way you handle and treat horse very much fits in with what I am learning through Natural Horsemanship.
Weekend Seminar-Workshop StudentsJust wanted to thank each one of you for a great weekend. What a wonderful experience!! I am still processing all of the information. Every one of you made us all feel very welcome, comfortable with our abilities and not afraid to make mistakes. What a refreshing attitude that there is a gentler way to help a horse heal than the traditional method of massage. This is exactly what I had been hoping to find. I learned a great deal and am looking forward to the next course. And what better place to learn the Masterson Method than right in the middle of horse country! The staff at Windy Meadows was more than accommodating, not only with the use of their barn and providing housing, but also allowing us all to practice on their magnificent horses! Great teachers, great program, great fellowship, great horses..... doesn't get any better than that!
Weekend Seminar-Workshop StudentsCan I say what an excellent 2 days - really well organized and so informative. I came home full of enthusiasm to put into practice what I have learnt on my horse Drambuie. I told Jim that I was interested to see if I could get a 17.2 spooky chestnut to drop his head and I can say I was delighted that by gentle persuasion Dram dropped his head and was licking my boots while he let me work on his poll and atlas. After staying with it, when he did release we had lots of snorting, head shaking and yawning. It is such a treat to be using a method to release stress and tension working with your horse as a guide - I feel I am further opening the channels of communication and forming a deeper bond with my pony (well not quite a pony at 17.2!). Thanks to Jim for such a great learning weekend - was knackered at the end but put that down to the steep learning curve and practical work which really gives you the feel of what you should be doing so you're confident when practicing on your own. Have watched the video a couple of times since the course as back up to what Jim taught us - the video is very informative and rationally put together.
Weekend Seminar-Workshop StudentsI have worked with Jim for the past 4 years organizing and promoting his seminars in the UK, I also integrate Jim's techniques in my McTimoney and sports massage therapy for horses. Jim's seminars are always very informative and good fun, with all participants having a fantastic time and learning how to use his approach on their own horses. Qualified equine therapists also find his techniques compliment and enhance their existing therapies.
Weekend Seminar-Workshop StudentsI attended the Nov. 21/22 seminar. I was impressed how much information & hands-on was packed into 2 days. Watching Jim evaluate the filly really drove home how much more information/skill there is to learn.
Weekend Seminar-Workshop StudentsI have now attended two weekend seminars with Jim Masterson and completed Phase I of the Level I certification, working towards completion of Phase II. I am a cutting horse owner and enthusiast who is looking for a more sustainable way (for both horse and owner) to participate in this sport. Intensive training/overtraining often results in chronic injuries which, in many cases, ultimately shortens the performance life of the horse and requires it to be re-purposed to another use at great financial loss to the owner. Jim's method of Integrated Equine Performance Bodywork was just what I've been looking for to understand the status of my own horses and be able to adjust their training regimen and care in advance of the development of career ending injuries, participate in their healing and management, and develop a much more intimate relationship with them. This has been so gratifying!
Weekend Seminar-Workshop StudentsI found the clinic to be one of the best I’ve ever attended. The material was presented in a straightforward, clear manner, easy for a layperson to understand. I was totally fascinated. It has turned me from a skeptical Brit into a real believer in the “alternative.” It was wonderful to watch an expert get results but to find that I too could get results was even more exciting.
Weekend Seminar-Workshop StudentsThanks so much for making your method available to riders. I have worked on my horse over the past two days and it is the first time I have been able to get his shoulders to relax. I have tried chiropractors and osteopaths with no effect. Having this method empowers me to keep him limber without using outside expensive sources. I am so grateful for finally getting the skills I need to keep going. I can't thank you enough. I was thinking this will be so great next show season when I can do the horses before and after the competitions. I have tried so many other treatments and your method is the first time I have gotten a real effect. I am so grateful you shared this method with us. Thanks so much!
Weekend Seminar-Workshop StudentsJim was very friendly, helpful, and supportive. He made a point of helping everybody. He was always busy helping or answering questions. He never made anyone feel silly for asking questions. This created an excellent learning environment where everybody else helped and supported each other. I liked the way the clinic was formatted – a short explanation, demonstration of each step, and plenty of practice time. It was very good to practice on a variety of horses and watch Jim and other students working on different horses also. Since I am involved in natural horsemanship, I really liked using the horse’s responses as a means of communicating with the horse and determining different aspects of the bodywork! Working on different horses gave us a better understanding of how to adapt to different problems and different horse personalities. It was fun, informative, and also practical. I would definitely recommend this clinic!
Weekend Seminar-Workshop StudentsThanks for such a fabulous day – Jim was brilliant and I found it really interesting – I’ve already been practicing today!
Weekend Seminar-Workshop StudentsI just completed the Equine Massage Course. I learned so much and was very glad that we could immediately put into practice the touch and movements which Jim taught us. Jim was very patient with us and encouraging, I appreciated his calm confidence and for his open attitude for questions, repeat demonstrations and dividing himself amongst all us students. I am very thankful for an incredible weekend. I can’t wait to start implementing these wonderful techniques of touch and patience. I do not own my own horse but definitely have plans in which to utilize what I have learned.
Weekend Seminar-Workshop StudentsJim has developed a creative method of bodywork that consistently gets results. The participation of the horse in the process and communication between horse and bodyworker is integral. Jim's rapport with his equine clients is rivaled only by his rapport with his students. Workshops and classes are presented in a supportive atmosphere, with clear instructions and hands-on learning and his quick wit and sense of humor put everyone at ease. Learning Jim's techniques has taken my professional bodywork practice to the next level.
Weekend Seminar-Workshop StudentsI attended one of Jim's weekend seminars, and I have to say that I found it be fantastic. While I own, ride and breed (and will train) horses, I was not coming from an existing equine therapeutic background or didn't have a degree in equine science. Jim's way of teaching and instruction was very easy to understand and follow. Everything was explained in simple terms that anybody no matter what level of experience, can understand. Jim developed his technique from observations and his experience of working with horses. I think his principle is what works is real and as a result the education provided combines facets of different equine theraputic disciplines. The results of the course on the horses worked on was simply amazing. The improvement of flexibility and mobility in the horses was profound. I would advise anybody horse owner or trainer attend one of Jim's courses.
Weekend Seminar-Workshop StudentsI have been so blessed. Prior to Jim, I studied Tellington Touch, and acupressure all from books. Of course, I had purchased Jim's video several months before attending the weekend seminar and had been practicing on my five horses. I started with my number one barrel horse. Before beginning work on him we tracked him and measured his stride, as well as taking videos of his movement at a walk, trot, lope, and run. I followed the same procedure with each of my horses (one who is 24 and had pneumo-pleuritis when he was 5) every two weeks as I continued to work on the horses we followed the same process of videoing and finally after four months we tracked my good barrel horse again and his stride had increased by six inches. Each horse showed a visible difference in their stride and a more fluid ease in movement (even the old man). As I was working on my horses and friends saw the progression and improvement in the fluid movement of my horses they began to ask if I would work on theirs. So, it has developed, one barrel racer telling another and the results have been fantastic. I have about 20 steady people now that have their horses worked on every two to three weeks and I have worked on 83 different horses...
Weekend Seminar-Workshop StudentsI thoroughly enjoyed Jim’s day course for therapists here in the UK. I’ve used his techniques along side osteopathy, and have had great results. He is an extraordinarily generous teacher - with a genuine passion for what he does.
Weekend Seminar-Workshop StudentsThanks so much for putting on that wonderful workshop in Indianola, IA. I knew from the moment I read about your work (about a year ago) that it would be enormously beneficial to my horses and I was wanting to do a workshop from the moment I heard about it. It was so dramatic to see the changes in Denny! Hopefully with consistent Masterson Method work, he can change some of his neural pathways from anxiety!!! to calm confidence.
In some ways I found him easier to work on than the other horses because he was so responsive. Some of the quarter horses were more stoic, maybe, not wimpy like thoroughbreds can be... and some of their responses were probably not noticed by me. On the other hand, Denny was a challenge because he was so responsive one had to be extra sensitive. (Always a good thing to learn!)
I hated to leave when the workshop was finished. Such a bunch of lovely people!! But I knew it was going to be dark by the time I got Denny home and the horses always take precedence.
By the way, I find you, Jim to be a wonderful teacher. Besides being clear and concise and helping people find the correct amount of pressure for various techniques, you are fun and humble and natural in your presentations. Wendy was a little worried prior to the workshop - she said: "we're just regular people..." I guess she was intimidated by the fact that you work on some of the top horses in the nation, I don't know. I told her not to worry that you would probably be a regular person too! And Yvonne was very pleased to find how nice you were to be around. She said: "who would've thought we'd be sitting around chatting and having a beer with him!" It is lovely to be around people who are natural and honest. No wonder the horses like you so well and respond so immediately to everything you do!
